Statement # 9: We can accept Intelligent Design because we posses the ability to see.
Scientific Rule: Irreducible Complexity
Evidence: One of the primary conundrums that bothered Charles Darwin was the human eye. Darwin, the father of evolutionary thought, attempted to explain the evolution of the eye, but noted, "To suppose that the eye, with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest possible degree. Yet reason tells me, that if numerous gradations from a perfect and complex eye to one very imperfect and simple, each grade being useful to its possessor, can be shown to exist; if further, the eye does vary ever so slightly, and the variations be inherited, which is certainly the case; and if variation or modification in the organ be ever useful to an animal under changing conditions of life, then the difficulty of believing that a perfect and complex eye could be formed by natural selection, though ins
uperable by our imagination, can hardly be considered real"
Darwin gave subtle evidence that the theory of evolution (natural selections) may be elevated to the status of a religion when he said, "The fact of evolution is the backbone of biology, and biology is thus in the peculiar position of being a science founded on an improved theory, is it then a science or faith?"
The human body is filled with multiple interrelated systems that cannot operate independently from the other systems. The process of irreducible complexity indicates the intricate nature of the body's design had a fully functioning beginning and could not have existed in a world of random mutations over millions of years.
The beginning of any object denotes design, a designer and a purpose for the design. This is true of a computer hard drive and it is true of all living things.
The interrelated systems within the human body are evidence of that purpose and design.
