Statement # 1: We can accept Intelligent Design in reference to observation.
Scientific Rule: Inference
Evidence: The primary scientific theories of origin are intelligent design and evolution. In both cases scientists make inferences or assumptions based on the available data. The data is often filtered through a personal scientific and philosophical bias.
In the case of intelligent design we can look at structures such as Mt. Rushmore or the pyramids of Egypt and infer that the structures we are viewing did not spontaneously evolve from the earth into ordered structure. We can infer that the objects had a designer. We don't even need to know the identity of the designer to infer that these structures were the product of design.
When science views computers or automobiles it would be less than honest to infer that these items spontaneously developed without the assistance of someone with an intellect guiding the design and implementation of that design.
Similarly a reasonable, logical inference can be made that mankind along with all inhabitants of the earth too sophisticated to reasonably accept that time and chance are responsible for our existence. A valid inference is that mankind bears traits that we would typically conclude were the result of design.
This rule of inference can be linked to intelligent design, which matches scientific data with observable evidence and discovers evidence that design requires a designer.
