Statement # 6: We can accept Intelligent Design based on deductive reasoning.
Scientific Rule: Logic
Evidence: There are a number of considerations one can ponder in relation to the origins of the earth and its inhabitant. Dr. William Lane Craig provides three things for us to consider in the argument for or against intelligent design.
1) The universe either (a) had a beginning or (b) had no beginning.
2) If it had a beginning, the beginning was either (a) caused or (b) uncaused.
3) If it had a cause, the cause was either (a) personal or (b) not personal. 1
These three considerations should not cause any scientist to cry foul. They are considerations based on logic.
1) Did the universe have a beginning?
2) If so, was it caused?
3) If so, was it personal?
Apart from religion and philosophy, the logical scientific answer to this question indicates there was a beginning and it was caused. Since the evidence points to a cause the fingerprints of design show personal care in relation to the design in much the same way a songwriter or author personally crafts their work.
In the end we can say in an observable conclusion.
1) The universe had a beginning.
2) It was caused.
3) It was personal.
